White struck what turned out to be winning goal from the penalty spot at Darragh Park, as Larne finished with 10 men after Ross Black’s sending-off on 80 minutes.

They now welcome Ballyclare Comrades to Inver Park on Friday night and, having moved into to sixth place, White wants to keep on climbing the table.

“David McAlinden has told us we’d be going up the league this year and challenging for promotion the year after,” White said.

“He also told us that how we played between now and the end of the season would determine whether we were going to be part of it or not, and the boys have taken that on board.

“We’re looking above us now and not having to be concerned what’s happening below us. We just want to finish as high up as possible.

“Saturday was tough, because the pitch was difficult to play on.

“We knew that it would be a battle and whoever wanted it more would take the points, thankfully it was us.”
