The Waterside man admitted that the Seasiders’ game plan of defending in numbers and just kicking high balls over the ’Stute defence, in the end meant they battled for the victory.

“We were away off it on Saturday, we had a poor day,” stated Kee.

“They were quicker to the ball, sharper to the ball and they stopped us from playing.

“We weren’t creative and our creative players had an off day, they know that themselves, we didn’t make enough chances. We didn’t score the penalty and that changes the match.

“We weren’t creative enough in the game, both (Darren) McCauley and (Declan) McKeever both having no impact on the game, which was disappointing, but they stood in their and defended well.

“We controlled the second half and they put 10 men behind the ball and in fairness to them they did well, they stopped crosses coming in, they got tackles in, they got interceptions and they won most of their headers.

“Bangor are scrapping for their lives and unfortunately with us maybe lacking a wee bit of sharpness on a difficult pitch it has cost us. The pitch would have suited them more than it would have suited us, because we are trying to get the ball down, while they were happy just to clear their lines.

“But in fairness in the closing minutes they were doubling up on the likes of Michael McCrudden and Aaron Walsh. However McCrudden and Walsh should have played better in my opinion, Dean Jarvis should have played better, Warren (Mullan) had an off day he was poor by his own standards and it’s disappointing.”

The ’Stute gaffer also conceded that he was a worried man at the interval, because the ball wasn’t being held up when they tried to get moving forward.

“My concern at half-time, I told the players that balls were going up front and they were just coming straight back, we didn’t win enough percentage of second balls, but in fairness to Bangor, they came here with a plan and won the game.

“It was well below the standard we have set ourselves, for a team who is looking to push on in the last seven or eight matches, it was very disappointing. But I can’t fault the players because although Saturday was a poor performance I couldn’t say that over the last 12 or 16 weeks.

“Apart from the Kilmore Rec match, which was a freak match with the sending off’s and other circumstances, I can’t really fault the players, the key is now to try and get back on track and getting the form back up again.”

Kee felt having not played a full game in the league for a number of weeks that momentum was something which was missing from his side and he was also bitterly disappointed with the manner in which they conceded the only goal of the game.

“Their goal OK came from a mistake, with Paddy’s (McLaughlin) pass being intercepted and then it’s from a deflected shot, but other than that, the never really bothered us the whole match.

“Maybe those couple of weeks off hasn’t helped us and it probably didn’t, because I don’t know where that performance came from, I wasn’t expecting it.”
