'˜We will bounce back' insists Kearney as Coleraine get ready for Crues visit

Last week warrenpoint Town put the Bannsiders to the sword winning 3-0.

On Saturday past fellow basement boys Carrick Rangers followed that up with a 2-1 win over Kearney’s men.

The Bannsiders boss though said the games against teams in the bottom half of the table are often the hardest in the league.

“I don’t see the last couple of games as a blip or anything,” he said.

“I don’t treat any team in this league any differently. When you look at the players Carrick have or the players Warrenpoint have they are good players.

“I never think ‘we’ll be alright this week’ or ‘I’m looking forward to this week’. I knew the last two weeks, especially when you come to this stage of the season, teams who are down around the bottom of the table can bring their own problems.

“With Warrenpoint winning last week, Carrick knew they had to get a result today.

“It brings a drive and a hunger itself which maybe didn’t exist earlier on this season.

“Definitely we never come into any gamed thinking it’s only a matter of turning up or that the bottom teams will be any easier than the teams at the top.

“If anything these games are probably harder as you really have to earn your three points.”

The Bannsiders entertain league leaders Crusaders this Saturday.

Stephen Baxter’s men pulled off a hard-fought win at Portadown on Saturday scoring late on to take a 1-0 victory.

Kearney said his side need to be more like the Crues in terms of their game management.

“You look at Crusaders today they score in the 90th minute and win 1-0,” Kearney told Times Sport after the game at Carrick.

“I look at our performance and say you don’t concede from a long throw or a corner, those are just simple jobs.

“We could be going into the 90th minute at 0-0 and score what turns out to be the winner.

“I could guarantee without having seen the Crues match that they have had scares today, but they do enough to keep the clean sheet and pick up their goal.

“But we come here and concede two goals but expect to win the game.

“It’s just very disappointing because I was happy with how we dealt with everything else including the pitch.”
