Weather halts Milk Cup parade

Organisers have taken the unprecedented step to axe the parade through the streets of Coleraine after a day of bad weather on the north coast.

In a statement, organisers said: “Due to this evening’s heavy rain we have taken the decision that this year’s participating teams will not be taking part in the parade through Coleraine at 7pm.

“Teams will instead be welcomed at the Opening Ceremony at Coleraine Showgrounds at 7:30pm - entry to this event is free.

“The invited bands will still be parading through the town from 7pm, starting from the Diamond and making their way to Coleraine Showgrounds.”

The tournament kicks off on Monday.
