the U9s and 10s playing in the Antrim festival Tournament and the ‘Masters’, Over35s playing in the ‘Back in the Game’ tournament at Valley leisure Centre.

NI MASTERS

The newly formed Carniny Amateur and Youth FC ‘Masters’ team played in their second tournament last Saturday at the Irish FA ‘Back in the Game’ Tournament at the Valley leisure centre on Saturday.

The team were amongst the huge entry with teams from all over the Province competing. The team will playing in further Tournaments. Anyone interested in playing for the team should contact Billy O’Flaherty 07850669666

ANTRIM ROVERS TOURNAMENT

Both the U9s and U10s enjoyed a good day’s football at the Antrim Festival Football Tournament hosted by Antrim Rovers in glorious sunshine at Allen Park on Saturday. The two teams were amongst the 30 odd teams assembled in what was a great day of football.

Carniny Under 9s played group games against Carnmoney Ladies, Magherafelt Sky Blues and Northend Utd, finishing second in the group with a win, a draw and finally losing out 1-0 in a closely contested game to group winners, Northend.

Drawn against Carrick Rangers in the Plate semi-final, it looked like the game was heading for penalties Carrick managed a fast breakaway and tucked away the cross to break Carniny hearts. Carniny pressed for the equaliser right to the final whistle but were unfortunate to lose out by the narrowest of margins.

FOYLE CUP

Carniny Amateur and Youth FC Under 17s (1998s) will begin squad selection and Training this Wednesday 1st June at Carnhill Playing field, 7.15pm, for the forthcoming Foyle Cup and 2016/17 season. Any players who think they would be suitable for the squad either for the Foyle Cup or next season’s U19 squad 1998s and 1999s are welcome.
