Wellington look to Leeman

AMATEUR League side Wellington Rec have appointed ex-Larne boss Tommy Leeman, to replace Neil Candlish who resigned last month.

“The set-up at Wellington Rec is great; you wouldn’t think it was an Amateur League club,” said Leeman. “It’s a nice ground, lovely club, and a lot of people who have been there for a long time – like Jeff Carmichael, a loyal servant, who did really well as manager, taking them up to the Premier Division. You have to give him a lot of credit and also Jim Hagan who came in and also did a good job.

“I’m aware the squad isn’t big enough. I hope the players that are here will stay and I’ve got a few signings lined up, though I’ll say nothing about them until they sign the dotted line.”

He added: “I’m looking forward to it, and hopefully the players are too – then we can all get together and do a good job for Wellington.”
