WET WET WET: Portstewart and Moyola Park share the spoils

Portstewart boss Gary Taylor described Saturday’s 0-0 with Moyola as ‘a very one sided scoreless draw’.

He told Times Sport on Monday that his side had enough chances to win the tie at a rain drenched Mullaghacall.

He praised Moyola keeper Marty Farniok who pulled off a string of saves to keep the mid Ulster side in the tie.

“We had loads of chances.

“Ricky Dunlop, Nigel Turner and Dylan McKitterick all had good chances. James Peden was also unlucky with a couple of free kicks.

“At the other end, Moyola did break a few times, but James Peden and John Neill dealt well with any pressure.”

Portstewart travel to Sport and Leisure this Saturday.

Glebe Rangers hammered the Glen Road outfit 4-0 on Saturday, but Taylor is taking nothing from the result.

“It’s a difficult place to go.

“They are a physical side, who play on a very tight pitch, but I believe that if we continue to play as we have been doing in the past few weeks that we can come away with a result.

“We haven’t been conceding goals our defence has been very good.

“We just need to take our chances in front of goal,” said Taylor.

Portstewart were handed a bye in the Intermediate Cup draw last week.

The Seasiders won the trophy twenty odd years ago when Taylor himself was playing.

“We were the first junior team to win the trophy, so I am looking forward to see who we draw against. The last time we won it myself, Aaron [Forgrave] and Dade {Moffatt] were playing so it would be nice to get a good run in it,” said the Portstewart boss.
