The Whites were left reeling from their Irish Cup exit at the hands of minnows Crumlin Star recently, and Kincaid had called on his men to respond positively when they were back in Cup action last Saturday.

Kincaid’s men certainly responded in style with a 5-2 win over Coagh United in the Third Round of this season’s Intermediate Cup.

Sean Southam was the star of the show grabbing a first half hat-trick, with Stephen Doyle adding a brace to secure the Whites’ passage into the next round of the competition.

Kincaid had been left disappointed with his side’s display in their 1-0 defeat against Crumlin, saying his men had ‘let the club down’.

Sticking by the same starting 11 for their clash with Coagh, Kincaid gave his team the opportunity to make amends and they cartainly did, despite a brave display from their visitors.

“Yes it was good to get that win,” Kincaid said.

“We played well, and we needed to win after the week before. Coagh made it difficult for us and kept trying but we were good enough to get the win.

“I didn’t change the team, I wanted to give them the chance to make up for what happened against Crumlin Star.”

Talking about his side’s performance, Kincaid added: “They impressed me with their attitude.

“You never get over a defeat like that until your next win. Coagh United kept plugging away, we could have killed the game off earlier but I was pleased to get the win.”

The Whites are not in action again until after Christmas, when they meet Donegal Celtic at New Grosvenor in Championship One on Saturday December 27.

“We’ve no game this Saturday,” Kincaid said. “So the boys will have a break over the weekend and we’ll be training between now and the 27th.

“The last game was a win, hopefully we can go on from there,” Kincaid said, as his side look to continue to make their way up the league table.
