Whites can kick on after first win says striker

Lisburn Distillery forward Denver Taggart says it’s full steam ahead.

The 21 year-old delivered the Whites’ first victory of the season with the winner at home to Armagh last Saturday and he hopes it will be the first of many.

“We needed those three points,” he said. “They were massively important for us because people were starting to worry. It will give us a lot of confidence.

“After the game there was a bit of relief amongst the lads but it was more than that. This week in training, there’s been a real excitement. People have been buzzing and we feel like we can kick on now.”

Taggart joined the club from Donegal Celtic over the summer and has netted twice already.

“I’m enjoying it,” he said. “We’ve got a good team of great lads and I really like working with Tommy (Kincaid) and the coaches.”

Now that the Whites are level on points with seventh placed Larne, Taggart is confident that a surge up the table isn’t far away.

“Tommy’s priority is to finish higher than last year but I think we can push on into the top half,” he said.

Distillery have no game this weekend but host H&W Welders on Saturday 19th September.
