Will it be home sweet home?

The champions elect visit Mourneview Park, where Glenavon have picked up 21 of their 29 league points so far this season.

The Blues have certainly looked a better team winning three games at home since the turn of the year including that 7-0 thrashing of Ballymena over a fortnight ago. Hamilton hopes that form could see them through to a result on Saturday.

“Our home form has been excellent this year. If we produce the type of performances we have done at home at times this season then we can get something from the game.

“It’s going to be a tough one but we did well against them earlier in the season. There haven’t been too many teams getting anything against them but we’ll be positive and try and get something from the game.

“It’s at our ground and if we work hard enough then you never know. They have to get beaten at some stage.

“They’re on such a good run and it’s a difficult game but the top teams always get beaten as some stage so it could be us, you never know.”

Cliftonville, of course, will provide a much sterner test than Ballymena did as they have won 11 of their last 12 league outings and look to be on their way to the league title. Hamilton says it is striker Liam Boyce who has 20 league goals to his name so far this season, his side will have to keep the closest eye on, although 17 goal Joe Gormley will also be a threat.

“Ciftonville are going to win the league and deservedly so,” said Hamilton.

“They’ve worked hard and have a good team ethic. Anybody who has seen them this season will see that they work their socks off.

“When you do that, you’ve a good chance and on top of it all they’ve got Liam Boyce who is the best player in the league at the minute. Joe Gormley’s scoring a lot of goals but most things are going through Boyce.

“He’s scoring goals and setting them up. He’s in a different league to the other players at the minute. They’re fortunate that they’ve kept hold of him and he hasn’t moved on.”

The boss is hoping to have defender Kris Lindsay available for selection this weekend after he limped off during last Saturday’s derby defeat, although Niall Henderson is suspended.

“We’ll have to wait and see on Kris. It’s more of a kick than any real damage. It doesn’t look like a bad one.

“You always fear the worst with Kris because he’s been so unfortunate in his career but hopefully its just some bone bruising and he’ll be okay for next week.

“We hope to have Marc Brown back as well, although he might not come straight back into the team.”
