Ten-man Portadown lost goalkeeper Conor Larkin to a red card - with Nathaniel Ferris impressive as an emergency number one.

Paddy McPartland, Ferris and Adam Brown provided Portadown with a 3-1 lead at half-time.

McPartland converted Joel Copes’ cross, Ferris produced an acrobatic finish to fine approach play between Luke Wilson and Brown before the latter added a slick individual goal.

Ferris pulled off a penalty save but the kick was retaken, with Glenavon ultimately making it 3-3 late on.

However, Portadown regrouped to reclaim top spot thanks to Zac Wilson’s finish.

Glenavon also finished the tie with 10 men - with Zac Wilson impressive on his return to the thirds from long-term injury and Luke Wilson excellent overall.

“The players showed great commitment,” said manager Chris Wright. “Now we have Lurgan Town in the quarter-finals.”
