PSNI started strongest in the game creating chances against a Ballymoney side starting the game without suspended goalkeeper Brian Moore.

Despite the great start by the home team Ballymoney broke and Gerald Gillan spotted goalkeeper Matty Quinn off his line and used his initiative to guide the ball over the keeper’s head from the half way line to put Ballymoney one up after five minutes.
From the centre PSNI took immediate control of the game and started on the offensive to make stand in keeper Brogan pull off a few tricky saves, before Peter Steele slotted under the keeper from a wide angle after a well worked build up from the home side short of 30 minutes. Stephen Leitch volleyed home from the edge of the box to make the scores 2-1 to PSNI.
Ballymoney pressurised again in the second half and following two remarkable saves from Quinn after a Lee McClelland header and a Gerald Gillan shot the home side broke on 78mins and Robert Knox made it 3-1.

PSNI now had the advantage over a Ballymoney side who by now had thrown in the towel and were punished on the next attack minutes later when Ballymoney defender Boyle tackled Leitch on the edge of the visitors box, only for the linesman to flag for a penalty, allowing Mark Anderson to calmly slot into the bottom corner and make the score 4-1 with five minutes of play remaining.

The home side struck again on the break allowing Peter Steele to cheekily chip over an advancing Brogan.
