Youth football round-up

Banbridge Rangers travelled to Lurgan Park on Saturday morning looking to make up for the defeat to Camlough Rovers in the Mid Ulster Cup semi-final the previous week.

The opening goal came when Bradley Harper took on three defenders and got his cross in to find the feet of David Barr who had a tap in to add to his brace last week.

All of the Rangers hard work was undone in injury time when a clearance fell to a Camlough player inside the box who squeezed the ball through the Rangers defence and into the bottom corner.

Armagh City U13 2-4 Banbridge Rangers U13

Banbridge Rangers U13s secured a semi-final place after winning their third group game in the League Cup on Saturday morning with a hat-trick from Tom Stannage doing the damage.

With three minutes to the half a cross from the left hand side found its way to striker Stannage on the edge of the area and he picked his spot in the far corner.

The second half was only three minutes old when Stannage picked the ball wide left and used his lightening pace to go past two defenders before catching the keeper out.

Armagh pulled a goal back with 15 minutes to go when their striker was able to lift the ball over the keeper from the edge of the area.

With nine minutes to go Stannage was played in down the right hand side after good work from Crawford and he finished well to make it 3-1 to Banbridge Rangers and his hat-trick.

In the final two minutes there was a goal apiece as Armagh scored on a counter attack and Luke Brown finished well to secure all three points an a spot in the Semi Finals with one game to go.

Rathfriland U11 Colts v Dromore U11

Rathfriland Colts faced Dromore in what turned out to be a game high in entertainment as well as goals.

Dromore started at a high tempo and took the lead after their striker broke away and finished neatly past Danielle Megaw who was deputising for Liam Tumilty in goal. The Colt’s heads didn’t go down and Will Kelly fired home the equaliser after a great through ball from Adam Cromie. Rathfriland went ahead with goals from Patrick Cowan, Mark Bronte and Shane Close before Dromore hit back. The second half saw Colts’ Bronte dispatch a free-kick into the top corner.

Dromore refused to lie down and hit back with a couple of quick goals of their own. Further goals from Joey O’Hare, Patrick Cowan and Will Kelly made sure the fight back was short lived. The scoring was complete when Danielle Megaw slotted in seconds before the final whistle.
