Forge Bar pick up win and dent Sperrin’s title hopes

The second half of the Tennent’s Coleraine Pool League kicked off on Tuesday night and as always the league did not disappoint.

High fliers Sperrin travelled to the Forge Bar to take on Darren Boyd’s men in a match they would have been expecting to win to keep up the pressure on the leaders but it was the home team who pulled off the victory to dent the title aspirations of the away side.

Lee Hull and Chris Wade both produced 4/4 for the home side and Scott Clarke 3/4 in a 13-7 win.

Elsewhere in Division 1, the leaders Potters A got back to winning ways after a tough few weeks with a 14-6 win over the Bullseye A with an outstanding 4/4 from recent singing Clem Howard and 3/4 from the ever dependable Damien Reid.

Racks A kept their good run going with an emphatic 16-4 win over Racks B. Gareth Johnston and Tommy Morrow both delivered 4/4 for the home side but credit must be given to Stefan Christie who produced a gutsy 3/4 in such a big defeat.

The final match in Division 1 was an extremely tight affair as Mary Pats travelled to the Railway Arms. The away side led 9-8, thanks to 4/4 from Gary Kennedy and 3/4 from Julie Henderson, but the home side fought back well to go 10-9 in front and captain Arthur McMullan won the last frame to seal an 11-9 victory for his side.

In Division 2, Potters B good run of form shows no signs of ending as they recorded another victory, this time a 14-4 hammering of the Bullseye Old Boys. Chris Boreland produced some outstanding pool to win 4/4 and young Curtis Boreland also produced some excellent finishes to win 3/3.
