Former Banbridge GC captain passes away

Last Thursday was another sad day for Banbridge Golf Club.

Harry Mahaffy, captain in 1974 and president from 1982 until 1984, passed away.

Harry, a native of Lurgan, was a very enthusiastic member of the club and he organised many wonderful nights of entertainment.

He was also a tidy golfer and he represented the club several times.

He initiated the Mahaffy Shield, which became one of the premier inter-club juvenile competitions in the province.

The captain, council and members of the club would like to extend their sympathies to his daughter Norma and family circle.
