Four goal McLeod stars for Coleraine

COLERAINE boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation with a 6-3 victory over Carrick last Saturday - with four goals coming from Caryn McLeod.

The former South African international demonstrated her outstanding skills, taking on a number of Carrick players to earn Coleraine their first penaly corner of the match.

A smooth push out from Alison Caldwell allowed a skilled layoff at the top of the "D" to provide McLeod with a clear shot, and she made no mistake to put Coleraine in front.

Coleraine seemed to relax after this and a lapse of concentration saw the home side punished when quick passing and superior stick skills allowed a Carrick forward to equalise.

However the Bannsiders responded well and a well timed pass from Kemps found McLeod on the edge of the circle and she executed a composed finish.

But back came Carrick again to square the match at 2-2 before a solo run from McLeod created space for Nicholl to fire home.

Coleraine stepped up their offensive play in the second half and they added a fourth goal following excellent stick work from Nicholl.

McLeod worked her way into the "D", striking the ball to find the corner of the goal to make it 5-2 with just fifteen minutes left.

However, another lapse in concentration saw Coleraine concede a third goal.

But the superb McLeod had the last say as she drove home yet another stunning goal near the end to seal a very important victory for the hosts.
