Four local bowlers reach Duneane singles finals

FOUR bowlers from the Mid-Antrim area will be among the 16-strong finals night line-up as the Duneane singles tournament reaches its conclusion tonight (Tuesday).

Brian Trimble (Old Bleach), James Gaston (First Broughshane) and Tom Morrison (First Ahoghill) all booked their places in a busy week of qualifying heats last week.

They join another Ahoghill bowler, Graham Maybin, who had secured his place in the first week of qualifiers.

The finals night line-up also includes a familiar face in tournament bowling circles in Alan Paul – a man with a tremendous track record of success in tournaments in this area.

The Cookstown High School bowler is a two-time winner of the Superseal Windows-sponsored Duneane event, while tournament organiser Jim Richardson believes that Paul has been involved on finals night in around 16 of the 22 years that the tournament has been in existence.
