Four-midable Seconds lift the Dowdall Cup

THE Seconds, coached by Mr Stewart and Mr Acheson, went 1-0 up in the last minute of the first half thanks to a fine solo effort from inspirational skipper Ben Wilson.

Some changes in formation meant a sturdy defence from Duggan, Cromie, Bennington, Matthew Wilson and their platform set up Michael Collussi for a superbly taken second four minutes into the second half.

This set up some fantastic forward play and De Courcey Wheeler and Dickson in particular helped thread the ball through to Matthew Gray to smash home from top circle to put the Academy side into an unassailable lead.

The pace of Russell White and the tenacious tackling of Calvin Dillion-Burns set up Sam Topping for the Academy's final goal of their double winning season, landing the Dowdall Cup and the Prior Shield for what has been an outstanding season for hockey.

The squad paid tribute to the long hours put in by staff after school and every weekend. Ben Wilson echoed the teams thanks to Matthew Gray, Matthew Wilson, Russell White in joining himself as leavers. Wallace HS beaten 4-0 - what a high to go out on!
