Four-midable U15s see off rivals

Banbridge Town U15s 0

Moneyslane U15s 4

MONEYSLANE'S U15s went to play Banbridge Juniors on Friday night at Cheney Park in a league derby clash.

Slane started this game slowly as the lads were a bit nervous, knowing most of the lads that played for Banbridge through their various schools.

Curtis Gibson had the best chance for Slane early on, making the Banbridge keeper pull off a good save.

In the 15th minute Banbridge got their first opportunity when a through ball from Gareth Hillen found Matthew Miller however the Moneyslane defender got back to block before the striker got his shot away.

Banbridge got another opportunity when Ross Allen found himself clear on the edge of the box but his shot was wide of the target.

Again Slane's Gibson found himself in on goal only to hit the woodwork.

Then Slane got the goal that they wanted. Gibson was one on one with the keeper and coolly slotted past him.

With Slane getting the goal right on half time they came out in the second the stronger team. Joshua Cargin rounded the defender only for him to trip him and the ref gave a penalty. Matthew Ervine slotted it past the keeper with ease.

Then Slane added a third when they were awarded a corner and Matthew Ervine floated in a great ball for Kyle Murray to head into the Banbridge net.

Slane should have had at least four or five more but for some good saves from the Banbridge keeper and wasteful finishing.

On came Kurtis Bain, Dale McMullan, Gareth McCabe and Andrew Neill. Slane added a fourth with a brilliant solo effort from Bain who turned the Banbridge defence inside out.

Slane's man of the match was hard to pick so it was put down to a whole team performance on the night. The manager was very proud on the night with the way the lads performed.

Best for Banbridge Juniors were goalkeeper Shane Campbell and ‘man of the match’ Ben McDowell.
