FOUR PUT ON TRANSFER LIST

FOUR players have been placed on the transfer list at Mourneview Park.

Glenavon boss Marty Quinn has made Tuda Murphy, Mark Turkington, Adrian Harper and Gary Liggett available to other clubs.

With both Barry Johnston and Hugh Davey having already joined the Mourneview Park ranks during this transfer window, Quinn has to balance the books and the four players have been placed on the transfer list.

However, the boss also pointed out that there is still a chance for the players to prove him wrong should they remain at the club and says that the door leading to first team opportunities is not shut on the four men.

“The reason behind it is that I have to make up for players coming in,” he said, frankly.

“With a very heavy heart, I had to speak to the players concerned and it’s one of the parts of the job I don’t like. If I’m to bring in another player, I need to move some others out. As to whether I will be able to move these guys on or not remains to be seen but as long as they’re at Glenavon, they’ll be made to feel very welcome.

“I won’t be treating them any different; I’ll be just the same with them as I was before. If an opportunity comes up and I feel it’s right for any of the four boys to play, they will certainly do that.

“A couple of them feel a bit aggrieved that they didn’t get much of a chance to get a run in the team and I have no qualms with that but I did what I feel is best and I told them that.”

However, one of those players has already been given the option of a temporary exit from Mourneview Park with Loughgall keen on bringing in Gary Liggett on loan until the end of the season.

Niall Currie has made an enquiry to speak to Gary which I have granted permission for him to do and I would like to see him going there and scoring a few goals,” began Quinn, who is keen not to lose the striker on a permanent basis.

“If he goes up there and proves what I think he can do in performing well and scoring a few goals then there’s nothing to stop him coming back to Glenavon and using the experience that he will hopefully have gained. I would certainly still like to keep tabs on Gary.”

Arguably the most surprising of the inclusions on the transfer list is goalkeeper, Tuda Murphy and Quinn is blaming the Cayman Islands international’s kicking as the only reason for the decision.

“He has played well for us but the kicking’s the problem,” he told the ‘MAIL.’

“That’s what swayed the decision between him and Plummer. If we get a bit of wind in his face at all we’re in trouble and it creates havoc and all sorts of problems.

“Plummer was down to start against Portadown on Boxing Day but if he comes in now and makes a mistake then Tuda will be back in, as long as he’s still at the club.

“If Tuda goes, I don’t have another goalkeeper lined up to come in but I’ll cross that bridge if and when I come to it. I think money can be used elsewhere, rather than on a goalkeeper.”
