Fourths outgunned by Braid

Ballymena IV 27 Dungannon IV 12

Dungannon started well and should have scored following some excellent driving from the pack.

Alas for the visitors, Ballymena broke from defence and despite a try saving tackle from John Condy, the Braid men took a penalty and scored when Matt Mulholland scampered in. Ballymena then added a second when Adrian Hayes charged over for Karl Morrison to convert.

Dungannon then spurned a penalty chance and could not manage a try despite a penetrating run from veteran, Peter Sandford. The half ended 12-0.

With fullback, John O’Neill in good form Dungannon went on the offensive early in the second half, Steven Gavin diving over after a good drive.

Shortly afterwards Kirby Hamilton retired injured and Ballymena took advantage with Garrett Bell and Andrew Knox crossing the whitewash.

Dungannon responded with try of the match, Philip Hall breaking from his own 22 before sending O’Neill in at the posts. Gareth McMullan added the extras.
