Fourths stay in contention at top of table

In truth Bann dominated from the first minute to the last and but for some poor finishing they could have truly embarrassed their hosts.

As it was it took until midway through the first half for them to open the scoring A scrap in the ‘Hinch goal resulted in the ball breaking kindly to Gary Dean who calmly slotted home.

Dean and Gareth Mathews were now creating chances for fun and it was Mathews who grabbed Bann’s second goal.

After good work from Joe McKnight, Mathews skipped past a home defender before deftly beating the opposing goalkeeper at his near post to score a fine individual effort.

The goal of the game however was Banbridge’s third. Superb interplay between Dean and Mathews sent Dean clean through on goal and the in-form striker made no mistake.

The games final goal came ten minutes later with the ball again breaking to Dean inside the D, which he converted to complete his second consecutive hat-trick.

Thereafter the game became disjointed with several Bann players keen to cash in on a potential goal glut.

Poor finishing prevented them from doing so, but the win marked the teams third in succession, putting them firmly in contention at the top of the table.
