Foyle aim for cup final spot

FOYLE and Londonderry College's Ulster Bank Schools Cricket Cup semi-final tie with Methodist College, has been re-arranged for today (Thursday - 3.30pm).

The cup holders' encounter was washed out on Tuesday, but they hope they can arrange to face the Belfast students at the Springtown venue this afternoon.

Foyle coach Gerald McCarter knows his boys are going to be in for a tough battle to reach this year's final.

"Whatever team gets to the semi-final is going to be good because you don't get to the semi-finals by being poor, so we are expecting a very tough game," he admitted.

"We go into the tie in most people's eyes as slight favourites but that's just something the boys will have to cope with.

"As defending champions that puts that little bit of added pressure on us, but the boys have played all those games already this season with that pressure so they are well used to it."
