Frazer finds his leaders as Seapatrick win

Tandragee Rovers 2

Seapatrick 3

ANDY Frazer asked for a leader on the pitch in the dressing room before this game at Madden Road.

He wasn't disappointed as he got 11.

The Village worked well as a team and fought for every scrap, playing some neat football along the way.

The game didn't come to life until the 27th minute. Philly Davidson played a great ball into the box, Davy Dawson was the first to react and as he got in behind Philly Pedlow all the big centre half could do was take him down and the referee rightly pointed toward the spot.

Steve Jones stepped up to take the kick and as he despatched it to the bottom corner keeper Ryan McConville got a fingertip to the ball and was unlucky to see it hit the back of the net.

Tandragee were level a short time later. As the ball pin balled its way around the Seapatrick box Ally Allen stooped to head and was caught in the face by the boot of Marty Buchanan. The referee hesitated but after some protest by the Tandragee players he pointed to the spot which Alistair Wilson duly converted.

It wasn't long before Seapatrick went ahead again. Philly Davidson found Steve Jones on the right and as he played inside, Chris McGrath played an inch perfect pass into the corner for Aaron Gallagher. Gallagher’s pinpoint cross was met by the diagonal run of Paul Frazer and as Frazer caught the ball sweetly with his right boot it nestled in the back of the net.

Again Tandragee got themselves back into it. An unchallenged run on the right hand side was put into the box by Dodds and as Tandragee's three front men were unmarked Alistair Wilson had the easy task of heading into an empty goal.

Tandragee were unlucky not to go ahead before the half time whistle; Gareth Dodds got himself in behind the Seapatrick back four. He steadied himself and his goal bound effort was magnificently saved by the feet of keeper Kris Fletcher, his rebound went over the bar with Fletcher on the ground in what was a let-off for Seapatrick.

The second half was only three minutes old when Seapatrick got their winner. Paul Frazer picked up the ball on the left and his cross field pass was met by the on rushing Steve Jones. Jones picked out Dawson at the backpost and the big frontman volleyed into the roof of the net.

Seapatrick weren't going to sit back and hold onto a one goal lead and Dawson should have made it four when he headed over from two yards out.

Ernie Buchanan was unlucky midway through the half. Davy Dawson’s free kick was well saved by McConville and as the ball came out it took a wicked bounce and Buchanan just couldn't get his effort on target.

Seapatrick still had more chances and Chris McGrath's volley just sailed over. Aaron Gallagher was also out of luck as he rounded the keeper at a tight angle he sent his effort just wide.

Tandragee pushed for a late equaliser but couldn't breach the back four again, marshalled superbly by the towering John Murphy.

This was a superb display by Seapatrick who grow in confidence every week. Next up for the Village is Bourneview at Crystal Park tonight (Tuesday), kick off 6.30pm.
