Freewheelers event raises £5,000 total

The ‘Ulster Hand Cycling Association’, have just handed over a cheque worth £5012 . 00 to help develop sport for the disabled in Northern Ireland.

The money was raised by the The ‘Ulster Hand Cycling Association’ who organised The Freewheelers Cycle Tour around Lough Neagh which took part on Saturday 1st August 2015,

when almost 300 cyclists turned up to take on the 78 mile challenge.

The UHCA would like to thank the cyclists who turned up from all over the province, including many from the Antrim and Ballymena areas,to support the Annual Freewheeler`s Charity Cycle Tour around the gruelling circuit of Lough Neagh, with special thanks to those who have faithfully assisted the event throughout it`s twenty five years of existence.

This much needed funding will go towards and is essential for the survival and development of sports such as Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Tennis and Trackchair Racing. Such sports are enjoyed by people covering a wide range of disabilities.

Special thanks should also go to JBE Building Services Ltd ‘Ballymena’, and Alan McComb Joinery ‘Dundrod’, for providing service vans on the day of the event, also to the NI Moto Marshalls and catering ladies for a job well done on the day of the event.

The event organisers are extremely grateful to all who supported the Freewheelers Tour of Lough Neagh, such support is essential for the survival of sport for people with disabilities in this country.
