Friday deadline for Sports Awards entries

Time is running out for you to have your say on the great and the good of sport in the Ballymena area during 2015.

Entries close this Friday, January 22, for the Ballymena Sports Awards - the first since the introduction of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.

Judging will take place shortly with the awards ceremony due to take place at the Des Allen Suite at Ballymena Showgrounds on Friday March 4.

The function will be compered by BBC presenter and commentator Joel Taggart.

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is now actively encouraging all those involved in sports to get behind their players and athletes, coaches and volunteers by nominating them for one of the nine awards to be decided upon at the ceremony.

The categories for the awards are:

• Junior Sportsperson of the Year;

• School Sporting Performance of the Year;

• Manager/Coach of the Year;

• Sportsperson/Team with a Disability;

• Veterans’ Award;

• Team of the Year;

• Services to Sport;

• Sportsperson of the Year;

• Sporting Hall of Fame.
