Friendly Bowling League draws to close

This thrilling climax to our fundraising efforts concludes a very successful season raising money for two local charities.

Our two beneficiaries this year were MacMillan Cancer Support and Parkinson's Disease Society to which we proudly donated 1050 and 830 respectively through the sale of quiz sheets and collections on match nights.

Spectators who attended the triples competition, which consisted of two teams from the seven clubs involved with the league, was played in the same way as all the matches throughout the season, in a competitive but friendly manner, saw some great bowling from those taking part.

After a terrific supper provided by the host club, the semi-finals and then the final took place.

The team from Cushendall consisted of M Lynn, J Jamison & D McKeegan taking on the team from Billy Parish consisting of V McLaughlin, R Gault & R J Kane. Both teams bowling some terrific shots with Cushendall taking the early advantage.

Indeed this advantage was to last most of the game until Billy picked up the shots to pip Cushendall at the post in the last two ends to take the win.

The League Chairman, David Culbertson, then presented the runners up and the winners with their shields and on behalf of the league expressed his thanks to Cushendall for the use of their splendid facilities and a sincere thanks to Mr Jack McCurdy for his umpire duties which he carried out on the night.
