Frozen pitch stops 'Stute

INSTITUTE'S Carling Premiership clash with Dungannon Swifts, which was scheduled for today (Saturday), was postponed.

The match at Drumahoe was called off due to a frozen pitch after an early morning pitch inspection.

The Carling Premiership games at the Oval, Coleraine, Ballymena and Glenavon were all postponed because of the continuing cold snap.

In the only game which beat the weather, which took place on the 4G pitch at Seaview saw Crusaders beat Portadown 3-2; the victory means Stephen Baxter's men have opened up a four point lead at the top of the league.

The latest postponements will increase the already-serious fixtures backlog in the Carling Premiership.

Only one game took place on Boxing Day while Tuesday's scheduled programme was entirely wiped out.
