Full points for Coleraine

COLERAINE proved much too strong for Brookgreen in their Progressive Building Society Senior League clash last Saturday.

The Lodge Road side ran out 94-56 winners to claim a maximum seven points.

The hosts won all four rinks matches, Jonathan Calvin getting the ball rolling with a very good 14 shot victory over David Gaile.

Victor Dallas followed that up with an eight shot success over Brian Lindsay and Mervyn McKeeman cruised to a 15 shot win over Bill Laverty.

The rout was completed when Richard McDermott held on to win by a single shot over K Steele.

The match of the day was undoubtedly in Portrush where the home side went down by a shot to Cookstown, losing 72-71.

Former Cookstown player, Jackie Smyth, had a good tussle with Colin Hogg before holding on to win by three shots and Gary McCloy was also involved in a close game before edging out Liam McHugh by four shots.

The successful Cookstown skips were Mark Wilson who defeated Ian McClure by six shots and Tom McAleavey beat Kevin O’Neill by two shots to secure five points for the visitors.

City of Derry picked up five points themselves as they defeated Dunluce 76-66.

D Kincaid had a superb 25 shots win over Tommy Mullan and Malcolm Thompson also had a very good 15 shot wuccess over Brian Smyth.

Dunluce’s winning skips were Rodney Kane who recorded a resounding 24-shot win over A Whisker and Uel McKeeman beat Lorenzo Graham by six shots.

* In Division 1 Ballymoney B defeated leaders Brooke Park 85-60 to earn six points.

Skips Archie Scott, Owen Steele and Robert McBride all chalked up good victories while Mickey Fahy was the only point scorer for Brooke Park on the day.

In the other games, Cookstown B defeated Ballycastle 86-77 to secure six points and Limavady beat Magherafelt away from home by 79 shots to 78 to earn five points.

* Limavady B came home with five-and-a-half points from their trip to Castlerock in Division 2 thanks to a 66-62 victory.

For the home side Clive Hutchinson beat Chris Wylie by eight shots and Victor Callaghan picked up another half point thanks to a drawn match with A Fear.

For Limavady Leslie Wallace beat Liam McLaughlin by seven shots and Robin Brown was a five shot winner over Philip Kirk.

Fairhill put a dent in Portrush B’s promotion hopes as they won three of the four rinks on their way to a 93-69 success.

Only P Scott managed a win for the seasiders, a 13 shot success over Ian Hutchinson.

Fairhill’s winning skips were Norman Hutchinson, P Hutchinson and F Kells.

In contast, Kilrea kept up their chase for promotion with an excellent 93-65 victory at City of Derry B.

Kilrea’s Barney McAlary had a superb 27-shot victory over P Doherty and Harold Kelly weighed in with a ten shot win over B Roberts.

* In Division 3, Letterkenny had an 89-55 win over Culrathain, securing six points.
