McKenna kicked four points in the Ulster minor quarter-final against Monaghan as the young Red Hands came up just short.

The young attacker impressed when deployed at full forward for the minors at the weekend and gives Mickey Harte another option ahead of Saturday’s All Ireland Qualifier with Louth.

A target for a number of Australian Rules teams, McKenna had starred as Tyrone reached the 2013 All Ireland minor final.

He has also been in good form with Eglish recently impressing in the senior championship opener for Eglish against Donaghmore and in Eglish’s league tie with league leader’s Killyclogher where he kicked 2-3.

McKenna is the third member of his family to join the Tyrone squad with both brothers Emmett and Ryan having featured already in Tyrone’s championship campaign.
