Gaffer expecting response

INSTITUTE manager John Gregg is expecting his players to react positively when Glenavon visit Drumahoe, this Saturday (KO 3pm).

The Waterside men, who lost to Crusaders on Tuesday night, were very disappointing against fellow strugglers Lisburn Distillery at the weekend and the boss is looking for some 'bouncebackability'.

"I want a response for the poor second half performance which we gave against Distillery," he said.

"I felt terrible on Saturday and Sunday because that display against Distillery isn't what I try to instil in a team and it was way off from what I want us to be like, so it's important that we get a response and we have another massive game against Glenavon.

"But as I have said all season every match for us is massive and now we have seven massive cup finals as far as I'm concerned.

"We could maybe crawl underneath a rock and hide after our game on Saturday, or do you want to do something about it, I chose the want to do something about it and that's what we'll be trying to do this weekend."

The Lurgan Blues have been very jackal and hide this season themselves and lost 3-1 in their last outing against Dungannon Swifts last weekend, but Gregg knows it's going to be a tough encounter.

"If you look at Glenavon's squad I think the wages of (Trevor) Molloy and (Tony) Grant would probably pay the entire first team squad here, but we don't judge our team on their wage packets, we judge them on commitment.

"However I would say that reading the press over the weekend I think everybody in the Irish League wanted that Distillery result on Saturday to make it interesting and maybe get this wee club out of the league.

"I keep hearing and reading all the time that we don't bring anything to the league, we don't have a big supporter's base and people think we are junior club, but I don't mind them thinking that, because me and the player's objective is to stay in this league.

"We know Glenavon will be tough opponents but no one can name to me any easy game in this division."
