Galling defeat for Glebe

Despite finding the back of the net three times against high-flying Loughgall on Saturday, Glebe Rangers came away from the league clash pointless, much to the frustration of manager Gary Scott.

The visitors took all three points from a goal-laden game which ended 5-3 to Loughgall.

“I’m bitterly, bitterly disappointed with Saturday because I think the positives from what we did right on the day in terms of going forward were superb,” Scott told Times Sport afterwards.

“In terms of work rate I thought we were superb, in terms of putting the ball in the net I thought we were superb, in terms of making runs, apart the officials’ refusal to get calls right at important times, I thought we were superb.

“Our discpline was superb in the face of a lot of frustration.

“The reality is a few individual errors from a few of our players and certainly more than one of the officials put us in the situation where we lost a game which we deserved at the very least a draw out of.

“I’m disappointed for the players and myself in that respect but having said that if we can cut out the individual errors we will make our own luck.

“There are some things you can’t legislate for.

“But we can take so many positives from the game, I definitely believe we are on the right track.”

Peter Kennoway scored and Ian Parkhill netted a brace for Glebe.

Meanwhile, Glebe have been handed a tricky Steel and Sons Cup quarter final clash away to Bangor on October 15.

But Scott is bullish about his side’s chances.

“I have been asked about the draw and whether we are disappointed with it,” he said.

“I think it’s a pretty bad draw for Bangor actually because Glebe Rangers will give everything they can in the next league match and then the Steel and Sons will be totally on our radar and I wouldn’t fancy any team that is going to have to play us in a game in this competition.

“We are looking good, we are prepared, a lot of the things we are doing are good and we have just got to keep them going.”

This Saturday Glebe travel to Tobermore United in the league, a game with added spice with ex-Glebe boss Johnny Law at the helm of the opposition.
