Also taking part were Diane Barr, double gold Paralympic medallist; boxer Dave ‘Boy’ McAuley, former World Champion and Roy Webb who was a European Champion and Commonwealth medalist.

Also in attendance were several county hurlers including all-star Liam Watson who travelled from Loughgiel along with John Campbell who was involved in Sunday’s Antrim final against Cushendall.

The kids went on to enjoy learning the skills of each sport and clearly showed how sportspeople can pick up other disciplines very quickly.

New and old acquaintances were made at the rugby club which kindly provided a barbecue sponsored by John McIlwaine.

This is the first of a planned ongoing series of this event with the next due to take place in Feystown next spring.

Larne RFC has expressed gratitude to the participating clubs; Larne Borough Council; the PSNI and other community representatives who enthusiastically supported the event.
