Games postponed after passing of club stalwart

COLERAINE Rugby Club postponed all matches at the weekend as a mark of respect following the passing of long time member and supporter, Tommy McClelland.

The Firsts had been due to play at Portadown in the league and the Seconds had a Cup match at Ballyclare, however the games were postponed at the request of the players. Many of the team members wished to attend the funeral on Saturday afternoon.

Tommy was a constant supporter of Cricket and Rugby at the club for many years, attending matches at home and away, always offering support, as well as advice and guidance, to players and coaches alike.

For many years Tommy was groundsman at the club, putting many hours of labour into development of the grounds. He took great pride in maintaining all the pitches to an exceptionally high standard.

Everyone in the club will remember Tommy as a great character and he will be greatly missed. The members wish to pass their condolences to the McClelland family at their time of loss.

The postponed matches will be re-arranged in the near future.
