Garvey B are promoted

Lisnagarvey B won promotion from NIBA Division 4 by finishing runners-up to St Stephen’s, who were runaway winners.

It will be interesting to see how they perform next season, but, meanwhile, it is well done for a really good season.

They also reached the NIBA Junior Cup final but lost to Whitehead, so the season goes down as the best for some time.

On the senior front Garvey had a solid season in NIBA Division 1 and did well at the NIBA Championships, winning the George Richardson Bowl for the best club performance.

The success continued at the Irish finals when Neil Mulholland won the open singles to add to his Commonwealth Games Silver (sorry for downgrading him to Bronze in last week’s paper) and a NIBA open singles win.

Noel Graham’s rink were unfortunate to miss out by a shot in the Irish fours semi-final.

Dromore have a good season

Dromore just missed out on going back up to NIBA Division 1 but they had a good year and will probably be happy enough to stay in Division 2.

Finaghy have

These results helped them stay well clear of danger in the relegation battle, but on the downside they lost their B team at the start of the season.

Lagan Valley avoid the drop

Lagan Valley had a poor season, but they did avoid relegation from NIBA Division 5, though it was only a win in the second last match that guaranteed their survival.

They will hope to improve on their home record next season.

Hilden were promoted to Private Greens Division 2 last season and they managed to maintain their status comfortably enough.

Due to different reasons they had difficulty fielding a B team, but managed to complete the season.

This problem received a further setback due to the sudden death of Gary Finlay, which was a great shock for the club.

Malone will drop down a division

Malone finished third from the bottom of Private Greens Senior 3, but due to a shake up of the various divisions they will play in a new Division 4 next season.

The top junior teams will join them which will not make life any easier.
