Lisnagarvey B needed two points from their final match at home to Queen’s Island to gain promotion from NIBA Division 4, but they did better and claimed five points from a six shots win.

St Stephen’s were already runaway winners of the Division, but Garvey’s battle for second place with Holywood went down to the final day.

Despite lifting three at the ninth Garvey were 8-13 down and 15-20 at 15 ends, but a five at 16 ends helped them finish 23-23. When the opposition was quartered Garvey won by 5.75 shots.

Down 5-8 at the tenth and 6-17 at 15 ends Alton Reid recovered some ground but still lost by seven shots.

Garvey lifted three at the eighth but it was 10-10 at the tenth and 13-13 at 15 ends. Bobby Carroll came back to 15-21 and when Queen’s Island were quartered they still won by three-quarters of a shot. Two threes gave Adrian McNevison a 10-9 lead at the tenth and a four helped to a 18-12 lead at 15 ends. Four at 19 ends enabled Garvey to win by eight shots.
