Garvey continue unbeaten league run
Lisnagarvey continued their thirteen match unbeaten run in the Premier League with their second win over Annadale in just ten days.
They won by 3 goals to 1 at Comber Road last Tuesday night to maintain their second place in the table with three matches remaining.

Hide AdOn a pitch which was rapidly hardening with frost as the night went on, Garvey were always in control with early chances falling to Andy Williamson and Johnny Quigley but it took until the 10th minute to break the deadlock; Garvey skipper Jonny Bell made a lot of ground before Jason Lynch crossed for Andy Williamson to deflect the ball past goalkeeper Moore at pace.
Penalty corners were swapped in the 18th and 26th minutes. Garvey’s was unsuccessful but Annadale’s effort gave them the equaliser from Kerrigan However, parity was short lived because in the 33rd minute, Garvey again took the lead when Andy Williamson slotted a fierce penalty corner to give Garvey a 2-1 lead at the interval.
The home side continued to dominate play with some slick passing on the fast surface without being able to ‘polish off’ their opponents until the 60th minute. Again it was the in- form Andy Williamson who sealed the points for his team. Sean Murray took on the Annadale defence down the right before slipping the ball to Williamson who beat Moore from close range.
Annadale did have two one against one situations in the last few minutes but on both occasions Garvey keeper John Tormey made timely interceptions to maintain Garvey’s two goal advantage until the final whistle.

Hide AdGarvey’s next match is against Instonians on Saturday March 28 at Comber Road at 2.45pm.Their final league games are against Newry away on Tues March 31 and Banbridge, also away on Thurs April 2. Both matches start at 7.45 p.m.
