Garvey duo in squad for Hamburg Masters, in busy time for local club

Lisnagarvey Hockey Club players Jonny Bell and James Lorimer have been selected in the squad for the Hamburg Masters taking place in Germany from July 25-28.

Irish Men’s Coach Andrew Meredith selected his panel for the Four Nations Tournament that includes Germany, England & The Netherlands and will be used to prepare the team ahead of the TriFinance EuroHockey Championships in Belgium in August.

Meredith named his squad on Tuesday. Speaking about his selection, the coach said: “The Hamburg Masters is a very prestigious tournament. It’s an excellent opportunity to test ourselves against 3 of the top nations in the world, in addition to providing a great vehicle to build experience in an extremely high quality, competitive environment for some of the younger members involved in the program.”

Meanhile, the last couple of weeks have been busy for Garvey’s U16 & U18 Irish players. Last weekend the U18 Boys team sealed B-Division Gold medals in Poland with a 6-0 victory over Russia. The previous week the U16 Boys had comprehensive victories in a Tri-Nations tournament in Wrexham.
