Garvey ladies battle hard

Lisnagarvey Ladies Firsts played Pegasus in their second league fixture of the season at Comber Road last Saturday. The newly promoted side started brightly and linked well between forward and midfield. Solid defending frustrated the visitors, although Pegasus took the lead on 28 minutes, but the locals responded superbly.

In the second half, Lisnagarvey attacked with great determination. Seven minutes after the break captain Laura Johnston hammered the ball into the back of the net. For a period of time it looked like they would share the points but 3 goals from Pegasus in the final 15 minutes saw the final score 4-1 to Pegasus.

Team spirit is higher than ever this season, but the girls must continue to work at their game and build on what they have already achieved. The girls have made a very encouraging start to the season and are very capable of picking up points this season.

• Elsewhere the Ladies Thirds put in another good performance against Ards 2nd XI drawing 1-1.
