Garvey Seconds suffer their heaviest defeat in recent times

Annadale Seconds 3 Garvey Seconds 0

Lisnagarvey 2nd XI suffered their heaviest defeat in recent memory at the weekend and failed to score in a game for the first time this season after being well beaten by a very strong Annadale side.

Dale now top the table outright with a 100% record which will be difficult to break this season.

Marshalled at the back and led in attack by ex-internationals David Smyth and Chris Jackson, who as ever had a point to prove against Garvey, the Seconds were outplayed overall at Lough Moss.

Former Garvey central midfielder Peter Bland provided control for the home side in midfield and Garvey never quite managed to settle on a day when their basics deserted them.

After a cagey opening Dale scored from their second corner after 20 minutes. Stuart Chisholm saved the first effort but the attacking side reacted much faster to eventually force in a rebound.

Garvey woke up and came back into the game before half time creating a half chance for Ian Davidson and forcing two corners of their own but to no avail.

Two further goals in the second half sealed it for Annadale but Garvey will reflect on the fact that both were rather presented to them by cheap turnovers in key areas of the pitch.

Garvey can have no complaints about the scoreline and this Annadale side will be a hot favourite along with Dublin outfit Monkstown to go all the way in the Irish Junior Cup which started at the weekend.
