Lisnagarvey 4 Annadale 2

Lisnagarvey qualified for the semi -final stage of the Kirk Cup when they defeated Annadale by 4 goals to 2 at Comber Road on Tuesday evening.

The home side were shocked early in the game when their opponents took a 2-0 lead after just 18 minutes. First, Sean Murray was very unlucky to score into his own net after 13 minutes and when James Cox gave Annadale a two goal advantage, Garvey had a lot to do to claim their place in the last four of the competition.

They struck back in the 27th minute when a sharp Timmy Cockram found the net with a reverse stick effort and a minute later Jason Lynch tied the match up at 2-2 with an unstoppable reverse shot. Andy Williamson took Garvey into the lead in the last minute of the first half with a tap in at the right hand post.

Timmy Cockram added goal number four with a penalty corner strike in the 53rd minute and although Annadale did threaten to score on occasion, Garvey had come back well to win 4-2.
