Garvey’s late flourish devastates Dromore

LISNAGARVEY 73 (5)

DROMORE 71(2)

Dromore dominated this game for more than 90 per cent of the time, but a late flourish from Lisnagarvey gave them a two shots win and five points in NIBA Division One on Tuesday night.

Dromore had led throughout and with around four ends left they led by eight shots, but a last end five for Keith Morrison against a dominant James McKenny suddenly set the game alive.

Garvey led by a shot with one rink left on the green but Robert Greer held the shot which would have tied the game. However, Neil Mulholland played a fine shot to gain Garvey the shot with his last bowl and when Greer could not alter the situation Dromore had lost by two.

A good fight back by Garvey, but these sort of situations have happened for Dromore throughout the season and for them it is hard to take.

At the tenth Noel Graham led 7-6, but despite lifting three at 14 ends Garvey were 10-12 down next end. Gavin Clinghan was 16-12 up at 17 ends and Dromore won by five shots.

With the help of a four James McKenny led 11-6 at the tenth and he added two threes to lead 22-6 at 15 ends. But, Keith Morrison came back well and finished with a vital five though losing by nine shots.
