Gary gets the only point for beaten Lagan Valley

Gary Stubbs stood in as a skip and was the only winner for Lagan Valley when they lost by 12 shots away to BETS in NIBA Division Five.

Stubbs led 8-7 at the tenth and won the next seven ends to lead 19-7, but Valley then lost the last five ends and had to hold on for a four shots win.

Ahead 10-7 at the tenth but 10-17 down five ends later, Billy Hobson lost by eight shots.

George Murdoch was 7-9 down at the tenth but 8-18 adrift at 15 ends and lost by seven shots.

Ahead 14-4 at the tenth Jim Kinkead slipped to 15-12 at 15 ends before dropping a last end double to lose by a shot.

Garvey ladies share the spoils

Garvey shared the spoils with Newcastle in the NIWBA Senior League on Thursday finishing on 63 shots each.

A three at the sixth gave Joyce Lyness a 6-5 lead and she lifted another three to leave the 15 ends score 15-15. Garvey dropped three singles at the closing ends.

At the tenth, Caroline Keys was 2-12 down but a four and a three helped her to 12-17 withan end left when she dropped a three.

Down 4-7 at the eighth, Kay McCully came back with a four to lead 19-10 with an end left, when Garvey dropped a single.

Despite lifting a four Iris Scott was 6-9 down 12-14 with two ends left Garvey finished with one, four.
