Gilford side stretch their lead at the top of the First Division

ANGLERS Rest 2-6 Castle Bar B - With results elsewhere going their way The Castle Bar stretched their lead at the top of the table to three points and with a game in hand on most of their nearest rivals.

The first three frames went with the break as S Fitzpatrick and R Fitzpatrick were winners for the visitors and BJ McAnearney registered a win for The Anglers. The visitors then went on a four frame winning run which determined the out come off the points. P Teggart started it all off followed by F Larkin, C McSherry and J Magennis. E McKinley finished off the scoring.

McGraths B 4-4 Cullens - With all ears on what was happening at the Anglers both teams know that they have lost vital ground on the league leaders The Castle and a draw did not suit either side. Tom Bell took the opening frame for Cullens before Andy Dean levelled it in the next. Richard Gibson and Ronnie Weir then opened up a two frame advantage for the visitors. That shook McGraths into action and Mark Myles and Russell Connell pulled the match levell to set up a grand stand finish. Joe Cullen secured at least a point for the visitors in the seventh frame and put the pressure all on Ally Rooney’s shoulders but he was well up for it and took the final frame for a share of the spoils.

Bus Bar 5- 3 Shepherds - The Bus Bar’s great month continued and in doing so put a serious dent in Shepherds title bid. J Lyttle won the first frame to give The Bus an early advantage. Steven Shepherd and J Neill rversed that advantage by winning the next two frames. D Mulligan kept The Bus Bar in the tie with a great win in the fifth. Michael Loughlin restored Shepherds two frame advantage in the fifth and made sure that the home side had to win all three remaining frames to take a point and thats exactly what they did through M McWilliams, J Mulligan and Kieron Lennon.

Market Bar B 4-4 First & Last B - Another good trip to Dromore for The First & Last. The Market took the early advantage as S Holland and P McDonald won the first two frames. P Lyness and N Foster won the next two to level the match. P McStraw then restored the lead for the home side but that did not last long as L Sheffield and B Burns both won their matches to give the Banbridge side the slender advantage going into the final frame. A Murray stepped up to the plate for the home side and finished off the night on a possitve note for the Dromore team.

Mulhollands B 4-4 Donacloney Legion - A long trip was made worth while but could have been more as this match was definately a game of two halves. Donacloney raced into a 4- 0 lead as Jonney Peden, Philip Cowan, Peter Brooker and Pat Hylands all won their frames. Mulhollands were up against it and came good in the second half as S Wilson, T Stewart, A Moore and M Jardine all made sure of victory in their matches to secure a great home point.
