Gillan wins Fred Daly competition

JIM Gillan, playing off 11, destroyed the field to win the Fred Daly competition with 44pts at Gracehill Golf Club.

After a front 9 of 1 over gross Jim was clearly playing some excellent golf and he continued this fine form throughout the back 9 for a further 22pts even picking up a 2 at the par 3 16th.

Ben Cave, playing off 24, was runner-up with 41pts. After a birdie at the 1st Ben was off to a flying start and made the turn with 22pts.

He perpetuated this form throughout the back 9 for a further 19pts. Mickey Connor, playing off 23, was 3rd with 38pts. Steven Bell acquired the gross prize with a 76.

* In the Sunday Sweep Ian Morrison, playing off 6, won the sweep with 39pts. After making the turn 3 over for 18pts Ian came home in level par for a further 21pts.

Obviously the new G25 irons from PGA Pro Ian Blair are making a difference!

Eoin Sayers, playing off 13, was 2nd with 38pts. Eoin was a couple over his handicap after the front 9 but rallied on the back 9 courtesy of birdies at the 15th and 16th to come home 4 under his card.

Sean Dobbin, playing off 12, was 3rd after being beaten on countback. Randal McDonnell was the grateful recipient of the gross prize with a 78.
