Girls are on the Money in final group game

Two minutes into the first half Ballymoeny were awarded their first penalty corner but Katie Mullan’s strike was cleared by the home team’s defence.

Quins responded by winning their first penalty corner of the game but were also unable to open the score line.

Harlequins continued to put Ballymoney under pressure, resulting in Jenna Holmes having to make some good saves. Quins fought hard and from open play opened the score line before the half time whistle, ending the half 1-0.

At the start of the second half Harlequins increased their lead with their second goal with a deflection from a penalty corner strike.

This was not the start to the second half Ballymoney was looking for.

Nevertheless, with 20 minutes of the match left Money dug deep and battled on.

They were soon rewarded for their efforts after Katie Mullan, following a great solo run, put Ballymoney on the score sheet making the score 2-1.

Mullan continued to make attacking runs down the left hand side and with a great strike across Quin’s circle found Anne Hempsey on the right post to deflect the ball in.

With the score line level Quins hung on by winning more penalty corners but the Money defence worked hard to clear their attacks.

Ballymoney responded with determination to win the game and with attacks down the right by Nikki Parke and Emma Lynch won another penalty corner.

Susie Martin stepped up on the strike and hammered the ball home to secure a Ballymoney victory leaving the score 2-3.

The firsts head to Armagh this Saturday with the match starting at 2.30pm. The seconds host Belfast Harlequins from 2.30pm and the thirds go to Lisnagarvey.
