Girls U12s are in seventh heaven

Moneyslane Girls U12s 7

Camlough 1

MONEYSLANE U12 girls went to Camlough last week for their first game of the season and came away with a well deserved win.

This team has been together for three years and it showed on the night with a fine display.

There was also a new face added to the team this year. Chloe Hunter started the game in midfield and was very solid. She passed a great ball through for Tia Wilson to score on two minutes.

Tia got a second soon after with a well taken effort giving the keeper no chance.

Megan Magill was doing well in goals and showing a safe pair of hands. In defence was Wendy Moorhead and Steffi Kerr who were not letting anything past them. Zara Malcolmson and Carrie Moffett were causing Camlough all sorts of problems on the wings. Chloe added a third goal just before half time.

On came Sara Jackson in defence Laura Blakely in goals and Leona Moorhead up front. Leona had her first shot saved by the keeper and in stepped Tia to fire in her third and Slane’s fourth right after half time.

Laura saved an effort from Camlough and Slane countered and Wendy got a fifth ten minutes later.

Then Slane went to sleep and allowed Camlough to get two goals and change the game.

Carrie Moffett scored to make it 6-1 with maybe the move of the game. Tia Wilson grabbed her fourth of the game and Slane’s seventh to put the game to bed.

A big thanks to Fiona Mooney at Camlough and her team for an enjoyable evening. The manager Andy McNeilly has done a great job with this team over the last while and hopefully it continues. Thanks also to Mickey O’Kane who refereed the game on the night.
