Giro raises £500 for charity

The 2015 Giro di Glen cyclists got on their bikes and have helped to raise a fantastic £500 for the very worthy Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

The Giro di Glen event was set up by the Eagle Glen Community Partnership as a fundraising event on the back of the interest and popularity of the Giro D’Italia in Northern Ireland last year. 10% of all the Giro di Glen registration fees along with fundraising for Eagle’s Glen Community Partnership were donated to NI Children’s Hospice.

Ruairi Boylan, of Agivey Cycling Club said, “We are absolutely thrilled with this year’s event; the success of the 2015 race has highlighted we are going from strength to strength each year. It is great to have more people getting involved in all the fun, especially since it is for such a great cause.

“As a result of the amazing turnout this year has meant we were able to raise a fabulous £500 for Northern Ireland’s Children’s Hospice. We were very proud to be able to present NI Children’s Hospice with these monies and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took part in the race and contributed to the final amount raised, their help will undoubtedly benefit the charity and the great work of the Hospice.”

Chris Fillis, of RiverRidge Recycling, commented, “This was a great event and we were only too happy to support this local Club. Congratulations to Ruairi and the team at the Agivey Cycling Club for their hard work in organising such a brilliant and challenging event, and for the monies raised for Northern Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.

“Our charity for this year is also the N.I.’s Children’s Hospice and we are thrilled that the Giro di Glen event has contributed £500 to this charity.”
