Glebe forwards are Brown on their luck against Larne

Glebe Rangers 1 v 1 LarneONLY a wonderful display by Larne goalkeeper Ryan Brown denied a resurgent Glebe Rangers all three points on Saturday.

Brown put in a man-of-the-match performance to deny the home side from picking up their first three points under Gareth Scott's tenure.

Larne got off to the perfect start when Alan Reid pounced on a loose ball inside the box to put his side one up inside the first minute.

But Glebe picked themselves up and were level when Trevor Parkhill scored from the spot after Tommy Elder was upended inside the box.

The home side dominated the second half and only a superb display by Larne goalkeeper Brown helped his side to a share of the points.

When it was put to him that his side were unlucky to come away with just one point on Saturday, Glebe manager Scott replied: "I'd have to agree with that.

"Having said that I'm absolutely delighted with the improvements made in terms of our own approach in games.

"We have a group of people willing to compete for every ball and willing to rise to any challenge.

"On Saturday from the third minute to the 90th there is no question - we were the better side.

"We just started shakily for some reason.

"But that has been indicative of us all season and we can't accept that.

"It is down to me to make sure we start games ready to go from the word go."

Glebe had numerous opportunities to win the game but were denied by Brown in the visitors' goal time and time again.

"Peter Kennoway had three excellent chances and he did what he's told to do each time - hit the target," said Scott.

"But I thought their goalkeeper was first class and played a big part in getting Larne a point on the day.

"I don't think Ryan Brown would look out of place in the Irish Premier League."

Scott was delighted with the efforts of all his players but singled out Adam McCart and Trevor Parkhill for special praise.

"Adam McCart played right back and had the courage to grab the game by the scruff of the neck," he said.

"He was one of the rocks the performance was built on.

"Then there is Trevor Parkhill who gives his all week in, week out. He scored a good goal from a deserved penalty."

Scott was also impressed with debutant Graeme Taylor, signed on loan from Linfield last week.

Next up for Glebe is a trip to Bangor on Saturday as the league enters the business end of the season.

Currently one place above basement club Armagh City, has Scott set a points target in order for Glebe to survive in the division?

"I probably have a target in my head of what I want to get to but we are going to try and get as many points as we can," he said.

"What is important now is that we channel all our energies into playing Bangor away then Ballinamallard.

"Firstly Bangor will be difficult, I know a few of the players there, but we can get the three points.

"We are certainly pointing in the right direction.

"That is the first time this season we have went two league games unbeaten and we just have to keep building on that."

The bus for the Bangor game will leave the Manor at noon on Saturday.
