With seven tough fitness sessions already under their belt, including a gruelling one at the Whiterocks, Portrush, Manager Jason Wilmont and his coaching staff are endeavouring to ensure the players are in tip top shape for the start of the season on 8th August.

“Our aim is to hit the ground running in August,” explained Jason. “A lot of the players felt they weren’t fit enough at the start of last season so we are putting in the extra groundwork.

“Everyone has been training really hard as we all know it’s a case of all or nothing this year. Up to now we have been working on our fitness, however, we will step up the ball work over the next week or so.”

As well as putting in the extra work in on their fitness training, Jason has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to sign players.

“I have signed Danny Brown from Ballymoney. he was their Young Player of the Year and will be a very useful addition to the squad. I have also signed Jamie Hanna from Ballymoney. I watched him last season and although he is only 19 years old, he is a good young player. Mark Dickson is also joining us from Ballymoney and we have Jason McClay coming to us from Ballybogey. Jason is a former Glebe player and he brings plenty of experience.

“I have been talking to Willie Beckett and he has trained with it. Willie would be a brilliant addition to Glebe Rangers. I know it’s between us and Coagh but I’m hoping Willie will still come on board with us. I’m also talking to Jake Carson from Ballymena and Ricky Dunlop who has been training with us.

“I have lost Ryan Marks and Brian Kane and I won’t lie I’m very disappointed about that as it’s such a massive season for us. However, I wish them both well, they are both good players and played well when they were with Glebe.

“Ideally I’m looking to being in seven or eight players to freshen things up and to strenghthen the squad, so the next few weeks will be hectic trying to get things tied up.”
